I actually do work from home.
1) For me the main purpose is that I can work 4 hours a day (at most) and get the same salary (and possibly do the same amount of work). I can sleep whole day or go anywhere I want and then work through the night (if it is someway urgent).
2) I don’t waste 2 hours a day to get to the office.
3) There isn’t so much noise at home – I can concentrate.
4) I can eat healthier food and it’s way cheaper than eating at some restaurant or fast-food. And I can eat at the very time I need it while at office it is often impossible.
5) There is NO social life in the office, actually. I come to work – to do my work, not to chat with some strangers (and I prefer keeping my colleagues as strangers: I have enough friends and it is sometimes to make a colleague who is a stranger do smth.)

P.S.: the only problem is that I spend weeks without leaving home a single time:)
