Pro or against Life imprisonment

Life imprisonment or life incarceration is a sentence of imprisonment for a serious crime, often for most or even all of the criminal’s remaining life depending on the country. Some countries don´t have Life imprisonment. What do you think about this?

Pro Life Imprisonment

    I don’t think anyone deserves a death penalty or life imprison. Yes the crime may be terrible but people can change and they do deserve a second chance but it should be tailered to their crime.
    I would like to point out that there must be some people in the comments that are of a religious back ground, and most people would like to think themselves good but speak of vengeance and serving punishment when the fundemental message of most religions is to forgive.

    if the crime is serious like mass killings or high treason, several rapes, etc. Then we should put away the people who doesnt deserve to be out in the world and have the freedom he doesnt deserve.

    i belive in life impisonment but there is one problem you can’t add one day to life without parole sure they could serve it all in solitary but is it realy enoth for a murdere who kills in prison?

    say a contry caps prison terms on 30 years a guy is serving 30 years and he kills an inmate what can you do? with life impisonment it whould be exstended to life without parole

    The point of prison is not to reform it is to lock away murderers from the public. And yes I am pro life imprisonment because it causes people who committed crimes bad enough to slowly die in jail with their guilt eating away at them. It is not inhumane, it is the correct way to punish someone who deserves it.

    The real point of imprisonment (not declared, of course) is VENGEANCE. Life imprisonment is possibly a better form of vengeance than death.

    Hell yea, if the crime is bad enough the people who commit it should be confined to jail forever. Letting them go for a major crime is just showing the world that America is softer than the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.

    I am against life imprisonment, I feel that a lot of people who agree with this punishment do not quite appreciate the vast amount of time these people will spend in these prisons. A life sentence may seem like a good idea on the day the criminal is given the sentence however in the future when you see convicts who have been imprisoned for 50 years or more this is just a waste of a lifetime, non body needs that much time to reflect on what they have done. I really just find the sentence idiotic as why give these people opportunities to better themselves if they will never be free?in my opinion the life sentence is worse than the death sentence. People really do change and let’s face it, the man who was convicted of murder at 22 will not be the same man at 77

    I am against life in prison I feel that its just to support jobs for the gov. I also feel life sentences are to harsh and its a death penalty for ones who can be re habbed.. the cost of it .. we all have to pay it.. let them go the ones that funcion well they have tallants let them use them with thier families .. out of their own pockets .

    No. I don’t believe in life imprisonment. It only funds jobs and a system that are negative. And the tax payers are the ones who have to fund it. Prisons should be only for the purpose of reforming bad behavior.

    The point of prison should be to reform people to make them into functional members of society. If they are life imprisoned, then who benefits?
